Rules:

The Toss for the Cure Cornhole Tournament court is a rectangular area 8 ft wide and a minimum of 42 ft long. The court consists of 2 boards, 4 designated pitcher’s boxes and foul lines. The boards are placed 27 feet apart (between front edges of Cornhole boards).

Rules of the game:

  • Each team shall consist of two players.  Partners shall stand at opposite boxes on the same side facing each other so there is no advantage given to one team.
  • Each team gets 4 bags (of the same color) making a total of 8 bags needed. 4 bags are thrown per round per team.
  • Player must throw from behind the front of the board to avoid a foot fault. A foot fault results in the bag being removed from the playing surface (if applicable). The same rule applies if player throws out of turn.
  • Each team alternates shots beginning with the team that scored last.
  • The team that goes first in a new match will be determined by a coin toss.  The team that wins the 1st game will begin the 2nd game and the team that wins the 2nd game will begin the 3rd game within a match.

Scoring:

  • Bags must land and stay on the board (without touching the ground) or go completely through the hole to score.
    • A bag on the board = 1 point
    • A bag in the hole = 3 points
  • Every point counts for both teams (no cancelling out points)
  • The first team to 21 points wins the game, however the cornhole match can never end in the middle of an inning. Thus, if a team reaches or exceeds 21 points, the game cannot end until all bags are thrown and the inning is completed.
  • Knocking an opponent’s bag off the board is legal
  • A bag that bounces from the ground/floor onto the board surface is disqualified and removed before the next throw.

Matches:

  • Matches will be best two out of three games – the team that wins two games will move to the next round of the tournament.

Should questions arise the ACA rules will be referenced with exception to the cancellation scoring method.    See http://www.playcornhole.org/rules.shtml for full set of ACA rules.

If a contestant desires to make a protest, the protest shall be made to the judge or tournament official at the time the problem occurs. The tournament judge shall make the final ruling on all protests.
